Soggy Sunday set for central Queensland

Parts of central QLD will see the skies open up for the second week in a row.

A developing low pressure trough over central parts of the sunshine state will bring a few storms and showers to finish off the weekend.

Most of the Central West, Maranoa and Warrego, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Channel Country will see a few drops, with isolated heavy falls in the order of 10-20mm. The good news does not stop there, showers are likely to hang around for another burst on Monday mostly across the Central West and Central Highlands and Coalfields districts.

With the first month of spring well under way, rain has been a hit-and-miss affair across the state. Windorah, Thargomindah, Birdsville and Boulia in the Channel Country have yet to record anything in the rain gauge this month. Birdsville and Boulia haven't seen a drop since June. It's been over a month since Thargomindah has needed the rain gauge out.

From the Capricornia Coast to the South East coast, falls are generally 20-50% of Septembers average rainfall, while northern parts of the state eagerly await the arrival monsoon season in a few months.
