Adelaide's nights are exceptionally cold, even by winter's standard

The city of churches has recorded its coldest fortnight of nights in seven years and coldest this early in the season in 35 years, averaging about five degrees.
The early part of the past fortnight was exceptionally cold, chilling below three degrees in four consecutive nights. This was the coldest it had been this early in the year in 130 years of records.
South Australia has been stuck under a high pressure system since the last day of autumn and it's not really going to give way until late in June. The high has led to light winds and generally clear skies statewide, the perfect recipe for frigid nights.
Since the start of the month the average minimum temperature in Adelaide has been 4.5 degrees, almost four degrees below the June average.
Looking ahead to the next fortnight and the average minimum should be about six degrees, still two degrees below average.
The mildest night this coming week should be Wednesday due to increased cloud cover. But once it clears the chilly nights will quickly return.
