Anzac Day weather, a mixed bag around the country

It's looking to be a rather gloomy start to Anzac Day in Melbourne and Adelaide as a complex low barrels over the southeast.

Cloudy skies and patchy rain are likely in Melbourne as the spiraling arm of a cold front moves through. A cold echo of guns may be heard across the city since the rain brings a low chance of isolated thunderstorms during the early hours, but this becomes less likely towards dawn.

Anzac services in Adelaide should escape the wettest, windiest conditions as showers and winds ease from earlier in the morning. Cloud will still linger and the odd shower or thunderstorm will be a slight chance. Fortunately stronger southerly winds from Friday evening will ease by Saturday morning, but temperatures will struggle to stay above single digits.

Good conditions are expected in Brisbane Saturday morning with light westerly winds preventing temperatures from feeling much colder than 14 degrees. A beautiful sunrise can be expected with barely a cloud in the sky forecast at 6am. The rest of the day looks set to follow the pleasant start and is likely to reach 2 or 3 degrees warmer than average in the afternoon.

Perth is set to start the day around 4 degrees cooler than average but otherwise conditions will be pleasant. A little cloud should burn away around dawn leading to a mild but largely sunny day.
