Blowy afternoon for Sydney-siders

Guy Dixon, Saturday October 1, 2016 - 14:01 AEST

A gusty west/northwesterly airflow is rattling windows across the Sydney Basin this afternoon as the northern flank of a complex low gives one last huff.

Elevated and coastal areas of Greater Sydney are feeling the most significant impacts, with Mt Boyce recording maximum wind gusts of 91 km/h and gusts of 78 km/h on the Harbour.

The vast expanses of unshielded tarmac allowed winds to gust up to 76 km/h at the airport followed closely by Kurnell's 72 km/h gust.

Conditions will remain blowy throughout the afternoon, slowly easing.

Warmth and lighter winds are on the forecast for Sunday, the perfect opportunity to watch the footy or go to the beach.
