Tasmania was in the firing line as a cold front crossed the state, with some places clocking gusts of 100km/h or more.
Maatsuyker Island, home to Australia's southern most lighthouse saw gusts reaching 128km/h early Friday morning. Interestingly, there have been only three days this month which have seen gusts of less than 100km/h.
Mount Wellington, which looks over Hobart and surrounds, recorded 122km/h shortly after midnight. Hobart saw an 111km/h gust on Thursday evening as well as a 95km/h wind gust before 5am this morning.
Scotts Peak Dam in the Western district and Cape Bruny in the South East have also seen gusts greater than 100km/h.
Windy and wet conditions have played havoc with power lines, with some customers still without power and facing long delays.
While the Severe Weather Warning for damaging wind has been cancelled, this will not be the last of the winds.
Another front approaching later today will cause rain and wind to increase ahead of a stronger system set to arrive on the weekend. In fact, multiple fronts are expected throughout next week.
Visitors and residents alike are reminded to keep an eye on the current warnings and to take other precautions such as keeping clear of fallen powerlines, make sure items are secure and be aware of debris on the road.
