Bush fire danger continues in NSW

Another dry cold front is sweeping over NSW this weekend, bringing with it heightened fire danger.
Similarly, several frontal systems have moved across the southeastern parts of the country recently, but rainfall over NSW has mostly been isolated to the southern parts of the state. Consequently, warm, dry and strong winds ahead of these systems have heightened the risk of any naturally occurring or man-made fire spreading quickly and uncontrollably.
Districts most affected by this heightened fire danger are Illawarra, Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, North Western, Northern Slopes, New England and the Far North Coast.
Numerous fires are burning over these districts, some uncontrolled. Additionally, a Very High fire danger rating has been assigned to these districts, although no total fire bans are currently in place.
Winds are expected to ease on Sunday and Monday as the front moves off the coast, but increased fire danger should remain in place until early next week.
