Chilly morning for central Australia

It was a chilly morning over central parts of Australia under a cloudless night sky.
In the Alice Springs district, temperatures were three-to-six degrees colder than average for this time of year. At Alice Springs airport, it dipped to minus two overnight, it's coldest morning since August last year. At Rabbit Flat, the temperature plummeted to less than one degree, also its coldest morning since August. Territory Grape Farm recorded sub zero temperatures as well, the first time so far this year.
Across the border in South Australia, northern parts of the Pastorals also saw overnight temperatures fall. Gluepot recorded minus two degrees this morning, which is six degrees below the July average. At Ernabella, the temperature was below zero around sunrise, its coldest morning of year so far.
These chilly mornings are due to a large belt of high pressure sitting over the country, allowing daytime heat to escape under cloudless night skies. Mornings are expected to remain chilly over the next few days until warmer air filters in from northern parts of Western Australia on Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately the warm mornings won't last long, with a strong pool of cold air returning late in the week.
