Coldest morning of winter for NSW Alps

In Thredbo, Perisher and Cooma, this morning was the coldest it has been all winter.
The coldest location was Perisher Valley, where the mercury tumbled to -12 degrees soon after sunrise. At Thredbo it was -10.4 degrees, making it colder than any other morning so far this season.
The most startling was Cooma, which had it's coldest July night in six years, dropping to -9.7 degrees.
Elsewhere in NSW it was a little warmer than forecasts suggested earlier in the week as the coldest air with this event stayed a little further south.
Winds will pick up over the ranges tonight in anticipation of a cold front, meaning that temperatures won't quite be so cold. However for those outdoors the wind will probably help make it feel colder.
