Commonwealth Games Weather

Drew Casper-Richardson, Saturday April 7, 2018 - 13:49 AEST

The Commonwealth Games are now well underway in the Gold Coast so what's in store weatherwise.

On Saturday it is forecast to reach 28 degrees however showers are a chance throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Although showers are expected to be brief they could put a damper on some of the outdoor events including the Beach Volleyball which is taking place on Coolangatta Beach.

Sunday and Monday will remain dry with just some patchy cloud around. The mercury is set to reach 28 degrees each day, cooling to the low to mid twenties during the evening.

A weak cool change will move through early on Tuesday morning. This will bring a few light showers on Tuesday and Wednesday along with slightly cooler conditions, reaching 27 degrees on both days.

Showers are then at least a risk each day until the games end on April 15th. At this stage Saturday April 14th looks to be the wettest day with a low pressure trough moving through bringing heavier showers and potentially storms. There is still plenty of time for this forecast to change though. Thankfully showers look to clear during Sunday April 15th in time for the Closing Ceremony.
