Cool running for Sydney's City2Surf

Kim Westcott, Saturday August 10, 2019 - 17:45 AEST

It will be a cool and breezy start for the runners of the 49th City2Surf.

The mercury will slowly edge towards the double digits around 8am, with a warm jumper a necessity. The skies will be mostly clear in the morning but dry and cold westerly winds will still be around 25-30km/h, making it feel at least three-or-four degrees colder.

As the race kicks off towards Bondi, the day will only gradually warm but the gusty winds will persist throughout the race. The mercury will hit around 14 degrees by midday, and by the afternoon it should be about 16 degrees at the beach.

If you are looking to take a dip at beautiful Bondi Beach to commemorate your efforts, the water temperature at the moment is around 18 degrees.
