Damaging winds lash WA

Severe weather continues to threaten parts of WA today after a powerful front crossed the state's west coast overnight.
The front and an associated low are one of the strongest systems to affect the state so far this year.
Since Thursday afternoon, wind gusts have reached 113km/h at Cape Naturaliste, 104km/h at Busselton Jetty, 95km/h at Rottnest Island and 91km/h at Perth Airport.
The system has also brought widespread rain to the state's parched west and southwest. Busselton's 67mm up to 9am Friday is its heaviest daily rainfall total since 2005, while Bunbury's 58mm is its heaviest since 2012.
Blustery northerly winds on Friday morning have also fuelled out of control bushfires in the state's South Coastal District, near Albany. Wind gusts reached up to 102km/h at Albany Airport overnight and have been hovering around 30-50km/h this morning. An Emergency Warning was in place for this fire as of 8am WST on Friday.
The front will weaken as it move north and east into the state's Interior and west Pilbara today, allowing conditions to gradually ease in most areas. However, the intense low pressure system will cause further showers, storms and potentially damaging winds as it passes lose to the state's southwest tonight.
A severe weather warning was issued shortly after 8am for parts of the Lower West District, including Perth, and western parts of the state's south coast.
