Double heat for Sydney

Ben Domensino, Thursday November 17, 2016 - 19:26 AEDT

Two rounds of hot weather during the next week will pack out beaches and pools across the Sydney Basin.

The first pulse of hot air should cause parts of Sydney to have their hottest day so far this season on Friday. Western suburbs are tipped to reach 36 degrees, while the city should manage the low thirties. This is forecast to be Penrith's hottest day since April.

A weak southerly change late on Friday will then drop the mercury by about five to eight degrees over the weekend, although temperatures will still be above average across Sydney each day.

The basin will heat up again early next week, pushing into the low thirties in the city and higher once again in the west.

Be sure to swim between the flags if you head to the beach and cover up to avoid early-season sunburn.
