Dry Easter for a change

James Casey, Friday April 14, 2017 - 09:48 AEST

Sydney and Brisbane are set for a surprisingly sunny and dry Easter.

Both Sydney and Brisbane haven't had a dry Easter since 2014 with falls over 30mm occurring in Sydney the previous two Easter long weekends.

This year looks to be a different story with a broad high pressure system set up over the southeast and no significant rain on the way. Brisbane has the slight chance of some afternoon showers today while Sydney could see some showers early on Easter Saturday. These showers will be light and won't exceed a couple of millimetres.

We are expecting some early morning fog patches for Sydney's west tomorrow, but this should burn off very soon after sunrise. Otherwise generally clear skies are expected for both Sydney and Brisbane until late on Easter Monday.

Afternoon thunderstorms are a risk late on Monday for western parts of Sydney. These storms are just a slight chance but if you were looking to leave your washing until the end of the long weekend you could get caught out.

Enjoy the time off and the wonderful holiday weather. Happy Easter from Weatherzone.
