Eastern NSW shrouded in fog

From the Northwest Slopes and Plains to the Southern Tablelands, foggy conditions hampered visibility this morning.

Murrurundi Gap and Cooma recorded visibility as low as 50m this morning. Elsewhere in the Hunter, Williamtown had visibility of less than a football field. On the Mid North Coast, Taree also experienced thick low cloud before sunrise.

Sydney also didn't miss out, with fog forming in western suburbs in the early hours of the morning. The fog continued east towards the coast, reaching eastern suburbs after sunrise. This fog created hazardous driving conditions as well as stunning photographs on the morning commute.

Conditions were ripe for fog to form, with overnight showers down the eastern seaboard increasing humidity levels followed by light winds and clear skies earlier this morning.

As we head further into autumn, foggy mornings will become more likely throughout NSW, typically peaking in May.
