Feeling the chill in Canberra

After a couple of mild nights, there will be a return to frosty starts in Canberra.
This morning was the fifth coldest morning that Canberra has experienced so far this winter. Temperatures dipped to -4.4 degrees in the nation's capital the early hours of this morning. This was a shock to the system for locals and visitors alike as it was over eight degrees colder than the relatively balmy morning experienced on Thursday.
Canberra was not the only place to face sub-zero temperatures this morning. Through the Southern and Central Tablelands and as far north as the Northern Tablelands, a chilly morning was felt. For some places, such as Lithgow, Teralga and Oberon the mercury was six-to-seven degrees below the August average.
The coming mornings will continue to be on the cold side in the ACT with a touch of frost, but no where near as cold as this morning.
Days will become increasingly warm, as a high pressure system becomes established. It will feel spring-like, as temperatures will creep into the high teens by next week.
