Healthy rain along the QLD coast

Parts of coastal QLD received their heaviest October rain in five years.

A high pressure ridge residing over the eastern seaboard steered a moist and persistent southeasterly breeze over the coast yesterday leading to isolated showers.

Although not overly heavy, the showers were constant, allowing Redcliffe to receive 21mm to 9am today, their most significant October rain since 2010. Down the road, Logan City picked up 18mm while Coolangatta Ap received 13mm, each the most substantial day of October rain since 2011.

In the coming days, the synoptic setup will remain largely the same, with moist onshore breezes delivering isolated showers up and down the QLD coast.

As we move into the early stages of next week, a low pressure trough which has been residing inland will shift over the stateâ??s Southeast Coast leading to convective showers and thunderstorms. During this period, showers are much more likely to deliver heavy downpours within a short amount of time.
