Heat in Hobart

Ben Domensino, Monday March 13, 2017 - 16:42 AEDT

Hobart could be about to have its hottest pair of days in three years.

A high pressure system centred over the southern Tasman Sea will flush Tasmania with hot northerly winds on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hobart is forecast to reach 31 degrees tomorrow and if it gets over 31.3 degrees, it will be the hottest day in a year. With Wednesday also forecast to reach 30, this is set to be the city's hottest pair of days since 2014 and the hottest pair of March days in four years.

These temperatures are about 10 above average for southern Tasmania at this time of year.

A front will drop Hobart's maximum temperature back to the mid-twenties from Thursday, although it's not the end of the heat for the week. Another 30 degree day could be on the cards this weekend.
