Hot weather coming to New South Wales

Rob Sharpe, Sunday November 27, 2016 - 12:30 AEDT

Western New South Wales will continue to dry out as hot weather coincides with the start of summer.

Much of New South Wales has enjoyed near average temperatures over the weekend. However heat focused over Western Australia is on its way.

In Bourke, the hottest temperature so far in the warming has been 39 degrees. But from Thursday 1st December to the following Sunday or Monday each day should exceed 40 degrees, more than five degrees above the December average.

On the coast temperatures will fluctuate much more due to a weak coastal cool change that will keep conditions briefly milder on Saturday 3rd. Seabreezes will also limit heating, but on the hottest days temperatures could exceed 35 on the coast.

This heat is a sign of things to come later in December and in January, bringing the risk of very dangerous fire weather.
