Last significant spring cooling for Canberra

Jacobus Cronje, Saturday November 19, 2016 - 14:12 AEDT

Following a spell of heat in Canberra that started on Friday, a final cooling event will drop temperatures next week.

Heat being transposed from the central parts of the country by a surface low pressure trough has been building across the southeastern interior, and is set to peak near the 32-degree mark on Monday afternoon.

A cool change is set to move through late on Tuesday 22nd, leading to showers and a drop in daytime temperatures of about four to five degrees, ending the likely run of 30-degree days that started on Friday.

Following three cool days, heating will slowly resume by next weekend. However, temperatures reaching the 30-degree mark are unlikely for the remainder of November.
