Melbourne in for cold, wet end to May

Like many other cities, Melbourne hasn't really felt much autumn weather, but that will quickly change.
Typically in May, Melbourne can expect mornings around nine degrees and days to warm up to 17 degrees.
So far this May, things have been very different. Both mornings and days have largely remained warmer than average, with temperatures trending over three degrees above the norm.
Although there is a large cool change on its way, and it's just in time for the end of the month. By Wednesday afternoon, rain will move over Melbourne, where it will persist into Thursday. Rainfall is likely to be in the region of 5-15mm on Thursday, bringing the city even closer to the May average.
Ample cloud will limit the daytime heating, with the mercury likely to stop at 15 degrees on Thursday, potentially bringing with it the coldest day since September. As the rain eases to showers on Friday, it could be even colder as the brisk air trailing behind the front finally catches up.
Over the weekend and into next week temperatures look to remain cool as we head into our first days of winter, this time with a more seasonal feel.
