Mountains in Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales are covered in snow this morning after another impressive late-season fall during the last 24 hours.
Snow started settling yesterday as temperatures plummeted in the wake of a cold front. The mercury plunged to a low of -5.7 degrees at Mount Buller, six below average and the lowest point in two months.
As expected, snowflakes continued falling through the night, resulting in a decent mid-October cover on the slopes this morning.
Snow wasn't just confined to the mainland alps. Tasmaniaâ??s Cradle Mountain was covered in white this morning, with a dusting also spotted atop Mount Wellington.
Despite the fresh cover today, most of the snow will be untouched by skiers and boarders as the resorts have already closed for the season. There is plenty of room to slide around for those willing to go for a trek in the mountains today.
