New South Wales rain

A cold front and low pressure trough moved through New South Wales overnight and today, bringing areas of rain.

The heaviest falls were mainly coastal stretching from the South Coast to the Mid North Coast districts, although some light falls reached inland as far as Dunedoo and the Hume Reservoir.

Sydney (Observatory Hill) and Ulladulla picked up the heaviest falls receiving 16.6mm to 9am this morning, with 0.6mm falling in Sydney to 1pm today. While not significant rain for Sydney, this rain marks the heaviest falls since the 19th September when Sydney picked up a three day drenching of 101.8mm.

The heaviest falls will move further north today, with 7.4mm of rain falling at Nobbys Head and 7mm at Gosford in the Hunter region as of 1pm today. Light falls are expected around the Port Macquarie area and along the ranges in the Northern Tablelands into the early afternoon.

Another front and weak trough may bring some light isolated falls overnight tonight to areas along and west of the ranges, in the Riverina, South West Slopes, the ACT and extending to the South Coast district tomorrow morning.

Cloud cover will be a significant feature for southern and eastern areas of the state for the remainder of the weekend.
