NSW finally settling down

Further heavy falls have soaked the central and southern New South Wales coast in the last 24 hours, however conditions are rapidly improving today as the system breathes its last breath.
The east coast low that wreaked havoc along the NSW coast rapidly weakened yesterday as it moved south, however it still brought a train of heavy rain and thunderstorms over the central and southern coasts.
Much of the region saw widespread falls of 30-80mm, with parts of the Illawarra escarpment seeing more than 100mm in the last 24 hours.
Green Cape collected a whopping 77mm in the 24 hours to 9am, its wettest day in three years, while Point Perpendicular received 87mm, its heaveist rain in more than a year.
Cronulla in Sydney's south recorded 92mm to 9am, its heaviest total since October.
Conditions are rapidly improving today as the remnants of the low rapidly dissipate in response to a strengthening ridge of high pressure, with only a few showers lingering.
The improved weather will allow for easier conditions for emergency crews, while falling river heights will also make the cleanup easier.
Looking further ahead, warmer, settled conditions are likely on Friday before showers and storms become a risk on Saturday, although falls will be nowhere near as heavy.
