Perfect conditions for the State of Origin

Kim Westcott, Tuesday June 21, 2016 - 10:18 AEST

After the skies opened up over southeast Queensland on Sunday, conditions will be perfect for the match on Wednesday.

A deep low pressure trough moved over the southeast during Sunday afternoon and evening, bringing the heaviest June rain that Brisbane has seen in nearly 50 years.
Brisbane received a significant dousing, picking up over 100mm in less than 24 hours, but conditions couldnā??t be more different for game two.

With the temperatures remaining at a mild 15 degrees during the game, spectators will be comfortable in a light jacket. There is no need for an umbrella, with the party cloudy skies not likely to bring even a drop of rain. Westerly winds will also be light throughout the game, averaging around 10km/h.

For those who are wondering what the rest of the week entails for Brisbane will be pleasantly surprised. While the skies look to become more cloudy on Thursday and Friday, it will be reasonably warm. As the skies become clearer in time for the weekend, the overnight temperature will drop. Sunday is shaping up to be the best morning to have a sleep-in, which will skip the chilly start.
