Rain on the way for Perth

It was a wintry start to the week in Perth as a cold front swept over Australia's southwest on Monday.
Blustery wind and showers made it feel like 14 degrees in Perth around lunchtime, with the city picking up 8mm of rain after 9am. The highest total in the area during the last 24 hours was 19mm at Bickley.
Conditions have calmed down today, although a more substantial bout of rain is on the cards at the end of the week when a procession of cold fronts will cross the southwest.
Rainfall totals of 20-40mm are possible from Perth down to about Albany between Friday and Monday, while some coastal areas could see see more than 50mm of rain.
This will be a welcome soaking for Perth, which has struggled to see much rain so far this season.
Perth had only recorded 44mm so far this autumn as of 9am today. This is the city's driest autumn since 1983 and more than 100mm below the long-term seasonal average.
While the anticipated rainfall expected at the end of this week won't be enough to make up for the season's deficit, it will bring relief to parched parks and gardens across the city.
