Showers and storms spreading to NSW and QLD

The thunderstorm season is well underway, with an extended run of thunderstorms on the cards for northern New South Wales and southern Queensland.
The trough that brought widespread thunderstorms to Victoria and southern NSW yesterday is being pushed north, bringing thunderstorms with it.
Today, thunderstorms will be focused across NSW (roughly on and east of a line from Tibooburra to Eden) and far southern QLD.
Storms should be particularly centred on the slopes and ranges, where they could bring damaging winds and small hail. Unfortunately, westerly winds associated with the system (leading to lower moisture) means the thunderstorms are unlikely to bring significant rainfall totals, with lightning strikes possibly sparking fires.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the trough will move into NSW's north and southern QLD. Thunderstorms will be more widespread due to higher moisture levels, and bring the risk of large hail and damaging winds. The higher moisture levels also means thunderstorms are much more likely to lead to healthy rainfall totals, although they also bring the risk of flash flooding.
The trough will weaken on Thursday, however a few showers and storms will still persist across far northern NSW and southern QLD, although rainfall totals will be much lighter.
After a lull on Friday, another trough will move over the region again during the weekend, bringing the further risk of thunderstorms.
