Sydney's weird weather almost over

It has been an unusual day of weather in Sydney and it's not over yet.
Temperatures typically follows a diurnal cycle of cooling overnight and warming up during the day, driven by the sun's movement in our sky.
Every now and then, a day bucks the trend, causing unprepared residents to endure a chilly day without enough layers. Today was one of those days.
The rebellious temperature was at a balmy 22-24 in the city from Sunday evening until 9am today. The official minimum of 21.7 degrees made it the warmest night since March and the warmest for October in eight years.
After a pleasant start to the day, showers and a westerly change dropped the temperature by three degrees in half an hour at 9am and the cooling didn't stop there. The mercury dipped to 14 degrees before 3pm and wind chill made it feel a couple of degrees cooler than this at times.
Showers added to the wintry feel, with falls of 2-5mm across the Sydney Basin as of 4pm. While this doesn't sound like much, Bankstown had the heaviest rain in over a month with just 4mm.
Temperatures are likely to climb a bit at the end of the day, which is also against the norm. It usually cools down at the end of the day.
Things should finally kick back into a normal pattern overnight. Tomorrow is forecast to have a low 12 degrees early in the morning and a top of 27 degrees during the day.
