Tasmania feeling the chill

Tasmania is receiving another dusting of snow today as temperatures plummet across the state.
A cold pool of air moving over Tasmania behind a front has caused snow to settle down to 900 metres above sea level this morning. A dusting has already covered the ground at Cradle Mountain and snow is sitting on top of Mount Wellington as well.
The coldest part of this air mass will move over the state tonight. This will drop the temperature enough to bring snow down to an elevation of about 500 metres this evening and on Wednesday morning.
It won't be quite cold enough for snow to fall in Hobart, although residents living in towns like Zeehan on the west coast won't have to travel far to find some flakes.
A bush walkers alert has been issued for the Western and Central Plateau Districts due to the cold weather and snow expected during the next 24 hours.
Hobart's top of 14 degrees today will be three below average for October, although it will warm up from tomorrow and should reach close to 20 degrees in the state's capital on Thursday.
