Tassie going for a white December

Tristan Meyers, Monday November 30, 2015 - 13:25 AEDT

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, and now snow is expected again in Tasmania on Tuesday evening.

Although the levels won't be as low as last week, when snow fell to 350 metres, the Gretna, Mt Mawson and Ben Lomond areas have a good chance of seeing a centimetre or two. Even Mount Wellington has an outside chance - so if you live in Hobart, have a glance at the peak when you wake up on Wednesday.

A vigorous front will begin impacting the Apple Isle from tomorrow morning, bringing gales along west the coast. As the front envelops the state throughout the afternoon, showers and snow will begin to fall, first over the west, then possibly in the east. Unfortunately, there isn't copious amounts of moisture around, so it will only be 1-3 centimetres above about 1000 metres.

After this wintery start, Tasmania will then heat up by this time next week. In fact, temperatures look to build to more than 2 or 3 degrees above the average for December.
