Warm weather on the way ahead of a looming cold front

New South Wales and South Australia's interior regions are set for a string of warm days this week, ahead of looming cold front expected Wednesday evening.

Conditions will begin to warm from Sunday as a series of troughs along with a cold front push a large warm airmass towards the east. This system will increase northerly wind strength, thus directing warmer air from the interior towards the region. These increased winds will also limit overnight cooling, and so relatively mild nights are forecast.

Overnight on Tuesday, temperatures are not expected to fall below 12 degrees for Coober Pedy, almost 5 degrees above the August average, along with almost 3 degrees above average for Broken Hill with a low of just 8 degrees forecast. On Wednesday temperatures look to rise to 29 degrees in Oodnadatta, South Australia, 7 degrees above average for this time of year.

As the cold front moves through on Wednesday evening, temperatures look to significantly drop by up to 9 degrees for Thursday. Strong southwesterly winds with some showers possible, look to then persist until Saturday.
