Warmest day in South Australia since April

Gusty northwesterly winds building this Saturday will bring significant heat to Adelaide and South Australia.

A low pressure system moving through the Bight will direct gusty northwesterly winds across the state on Friday and Saturday. This will push very warm air from central SA into the southeast.

Adelaide is currently forecast to be 33 degrees celsius on Saturday 5th. Temperatures have not reached the thirties in Adelaide for nearly 6 months, when the city reached 33.8 and 32.2 degrees on April 19th and 20th, respectively.

Moving to the north, temperatures on Saturday are forecast to reach 42 degrees in Tarcoola (hottest October day since 2013) and 40 degrees in Port Augusta (hottest October day since 2014). It is important to note that these gusty winds could raise dust across dry part of the state. Total fire bans are also currently in place for North West Pastoral and Flinders on Saturday.

Possible showers and a milder 21 degree day are to be expected on Sunday as the low pressure system moves east over the region. Winds are also expected to become more southerly into next week, bringing about increased cloud cover, and temperatures in the high teens.
