Wet weather in Perth this weekend

Ben Domensino, Friday August 2, 2019 - 20:34 AEST

A cold front will bring showers and possibly a storm to Perth on Saturday.

While the day should start out dry, showers are likely to develop in Perth by the afternoon, most likely around lunch time.

Saturday's showers are being caused by a relatively weak cold front, which could also produce a few thunderstorms with its passage.

Perth could pick up about 3-5mm of rain from this system, possibly a bit more in areas that see thunderstorms.

Showers will ease into Saturday evening as the front moves further inland, alhtough there will still be a chance of a few light showers on Sunday as onshore winds persist.

More wet weather and possibly storms are on the cards for Perth on Monday, as another cold front sweeps over Western Australia's Southwest Land Division.

A very wet weekend for southeast Qld, northeast NSW

11:48 AEST A prolonged rainfall event is set to bring large totals to parts of NSW and Qld from Saturday, with possible heavy falls and flooding.  A low-pressure system in the Coral Sea, a deepening coastal trough and persistent easterlies will bring moisture-laden air into southeast Qld and northeast NSW will bring days of rainfall to the region.  While there is not a drop of rain on the radar over southeast Qld and Northeast NSW on Friday morning, the mass of cloud associated with a low in the Coral Sea will enhance rainfall over the weekend.
