White winter wonderland

Some are calling it the best day of the snow season so far, with 15-20cm+ falling over the Australian Alps overnight.
Following a strong cold front which swept over the nation's southeast yesterday, persistent showers developed overnight, falling as low as the surrounding hills of the ACT including a dusting over Corin Forest.
Victorian resorts managed to pick up the most substantial dump, with Falls Creek collecting 24mm in the past 24 hours, with Mt Buller picking up 20mm. The NSW alps weren't far behind, with 15cm accumulating, deeper in parts where the wind had an influence.
Today, these gusty breezes have eased leading to beautiful conditions for snow sports. Although the snowfalls aren't quite as impressive as the last front, there is a much more substantial base with an average snow depth of 71cm at Perisher.
With the exception of a few possible flurries today, the next best chance of fresh snow comes on Tuesday with the passage of a strong front and possible cut-off low.
