Cancellation Of Severe Thunderstorm Warning

for Arnhem, Gregory and Tanami districts.

Severe thunderstorms have eased across the Territory.

cancellation of severe thunderstorm warning for the following areas:
Arnhem, Gregory and Tanami
The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
92.4 mm was recorded at Victoria River Downs in the 1 hour to 1:55 pm.

The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
* avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
* stay away from fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live
* stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways

No further warnings will be issued for this event.

Generation gone with the wind

13:20 AEST A weeklong stretch of low wind power was broken on Wednesday evening, as a weak cold front marched across southern Australia.  The chart below shows that the National Electricity Market (NEM) has endured a weeklong stretch of low wind generation, with wind power providing around 6% of the NEM’s electricity, down from last year’s average of 13.1% (Mon, April 15 to Wed, April 17).
