Cancellation Of Severe Thunderstorm Warning

for Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 3:38 pm Monday, 1 April 2024.

Storms have eased in the east.

Weather Situation
An upper trough is tapping in to a moist airmass and is producing thunderstorms over eastern South Australia. Thunderstorms and rain will continue to gradually shift east throughout the day.
cancellation of severe thunderstorm warning for the following areas:
Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East and North East Pastoral
The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.

Generation gone with the wind

13:20 AEST A weeklong stretch of low wind power was broken on Wednesday evening, as a weak cold front marched across southern Australia.  The chart below shows that the National Electricity Market (NEM) has endured a weeklong stretch of low wind generation, with wind power providing around 6% of the NEM’s electricity, down from last year’s average of 13.1% (Mon, April 15 to Wed, April 17).
