and King Catchments)
Issued at 11:49 am EDT on Friday 20 October 2017

In the 24 hours to 9 am Friday, rainfall totals of 30 to 50 mm have been
recorded in the North East river catchments, with an isolated total of 79 mm
recorded at Angleside. No significant rainfall is expected during the next few
days.

Stream rises have been observed overnight Thursday into Friday in response to
the rain in the North East river catchments and a minor flood warning is
current for the Kiewa River catchment.

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will
update catchment specific warnings as required.

Note: This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and
streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to
move to higher ground should flooding develop. Flood Warnings will be issued if
the Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main

SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
Never allow children to play in floodwater,
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain,
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may
contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases
the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
