The Top End is covered in thick cloud and embedded storm activity, the result of Tropical Cyclone "Fina" to the north of the country in the Arafura Sea. A trough in the Gulf of Carpentaria reaching over the Cape York Peninsula is driving some isolated storm activity over the area. An upper trough over the west coast of Western Australia is driving extensive cloud cover and storm activity over central and southern parts of the state. A cool moist airstream passing over the southeast of the country is bringing plenty of low level cloud cover to Victoria, Tasmania, and the southern coast of South Australia. The rest of the country is mostly cloud free.
