A northwestern cloud band has set up east of a large front situated between two dominant subtropical high pressure systems over southern Western Australia. Embedded thunderstorms form in the mid layer of the atmosphere in the cloud band. The high pressure system in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over northern and eastern parts of the country, driving some patchy cloud along the eastern seaboard. The rest of the country is mostly cloud free.
