Final Flood Warning For The Bellinger River

FLOODING IS NO LONGER EXPECTED AT THORA
Rainfall totals of up to 71 mm have been recorded across the Bellinger River catchment in the 24 hours to 9am Saturday. In response to this rainfall, river level rises have been observed across the catchment from Friday afternoon, but are expected to remain below the minor flood levels.
Showers are forecast for the remainder of Saturday, however no significant rainfall totals are expected.

Bellinger River:
No further flooding is expected in the Bellinger River.
The Bellinger River at Thora peaked at 2.60 metres around 07:50 am Saturday 06 April, below the minor flood level. The river level is currently at 2.54 metres and steady.
The Bellinger River at Thora is expected to remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m).

Flood Safety Advice:
In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.
Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous}

A very wet weekend for southeast Qld, northeast NSW

11:48 AEST A prolonged rainfall event is set to bring large totals to parts of NSW and Qld from Saturday, with possible heavy falls and flooding.  A low-pressure system in the Coral Sea, a deepening coastal trough and persistent easterlies will bring moisture-laden air into southeast Qld and northeast NSW will bring days of rainfall to the region.  While there is not a drop of rain on the radar over southeast Qld and Northeast NSW on Friday morning, the mass of cloud associated with a low in the Coral Sea will enhance rainfall over the weekend.
