A warm end to August and a cold start to September for Adelaide

A cold front is crossing western parts of the country triggering heavy showers, while drawing in a very warm air mass ahead of it over South Australia.
This front will gradually move further east, allowing Adelaide to experience a series of warm days to cap off the end of August. Between today and Sunday, maximum temperatures are expected to reach between 22-24 degrees, which is 5-7 degrees above the long term August average.
However, these warmer than average temperatures will round out the end of August as the cold front reaches Adelaide on Sunday evening. The front will bring a few light showers and drop temperatures on Monday to start September off.
Adelaide will see a run of cooler than average days from Monday and into the end of next week. Daily temperatures will drop to around 15 degrees, which is four degrees below the average for September. The front's slow moving nature and the appearance of another front around Wednesday will keep conditions quite cool.
A high pressure system should then move over the region around Friday. This system should clear showers and allow daytime temperatures to climb back to near average.
