Blowy beginning to the week for Victoria

It is turning out to be a wild winter's day in Victoria today, as a beefy cold front marches its way across Victoria, bringing widespread rain and gusty winds.
Wind gusts reached 87 km/h early this morning at Tullamarine Airport. The maximum gust so far today was recorded on Mount William at 96 km/h. There is a damaging wind warning in effect over parts of the Wimmera, Southwest, Central and North Central districts, where we could see a more gusts exceeding the 90 km/h mark. The damaging winds are expected to transfer across to Alpine areas of Gippsland and the Northeast district during Tuesday, where gusts could top 110 km/h in exposed locations.
Winds will remain strong until late on Wednesday, before a ridge of high pressure builds in from the northwest. Through the rest of the week, it will be a tussle between less intense fronts brushing the state, and high pressure ridges building in. This will produce long dry spells being replaced by showery conditions in an alternating pattern.
