Morning glory seen this week

Rare morning glory clouds have been rolling across the Gulf of Carpentaria this week.
Typically forming closer to October during northern Australia's build-up to the wet season, these roll clouds develop when winds come together causing a long tube-like cloud.
Rising temperatures and atmospheric moisture fed by sea breezes this week have provided the ingredients for the glory to take shape. It was visible both yesterday and today on high resolution satellite imagery, which you can view here at: http://www.weatherzone.com.au/layers/
In response to increasing moisture, Kowanyama managed to pick up 3mm of rain on Wednesday night, which is the entire monthly average for the Cape York Peninsula town. It is still the dry season after all.
