A weak low pressure trough will clip the southeast of Queensland tomorrow, although unlikely to generate any significant rain, with only a few isolated showers expected and mainly coastal.

An inland trough will then linger from the Peninsula to the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, while a ridge of high pressure extends along the east coast. The ridge will likely weaken on Tuesday and Wednesday as the inland trough moves eastward, closer to the coast.

From Tuesday to Thursday, light showers are expected about the southeast, with isolated areas of drizzle along the tropical coast. These showers have the potential of reaching as far inland as Charleville on Wednesday. The heaviest falls are expected on Thursday about the far southeast coast with up to 20mm possible in some areas. Up to 5mm may fall around inland areas of the southeast.

In amongst the showers about the southeast, thunderstorms are possible from late Wednesday and into Thursday.

Above average temperatures are likely to persist in the southeast during the next few days, while the remainder of the state keeps to near average. St George Airport had it's warmest morning so far this month reaching 13.5 degrees, 7.3 degrees above the August minimum average.

A low pressure system and associated front may impact the southeast late on Thursday, although potentially moving offshore rapidly and unlikely to bring significant rainfall. Temperatures will likely be the only casualty from this system, falling to near average in the southeast.
