An unusually strong cold front for this late in the year caused temperatures to plummet in South Australia during the last 24 hours.

At 9am on Friday, the temperature was only 4.6ºC at Yongala and 5.3ºC at Clare. Nearby, it was cold enough early on Friday morning for snow to settle on some elevated areas of the Mid North, with snow seen near Hallett, Peterborough, Terowie, Tarcowie, and Belalie North.

Adelaide had only reached 9.1ºC by 9am on Friday and forecast to top out at 14 degrees during the day. This would make it the city's coldest day this late in spring since 2010.
