Windy and showery in the southeast, sunny elsewhere

The forecast for every day this week is almost identical, windy with showers in southeast, sunny elsewhere and warm in the north.
The weather pattern is quite stagnant with a cold front crossing the southeast of the country every day or two while a high pressure system lies across the rest of the country.
As a result, many places in Tasmania and southern parts of Victoria and South Australia can expect brisk winds and showers almost every day, the windiest week since June last year, while the rest of the country laps up the sunshine.
It should be the windiest week since spring 2013 for parts of Tasmania, including Hobart, and potentially the windiest week in six years for Bass Strait.
It is quite a change from the weather we had during the past few weeks.
Large areas of central and northern New South Wales and southern Queensland have gone from their cloudiest and wettest fortnight in more than a year to their sunniest week in three months, a chance to get all the washing done.
Looking into next week, we should see an easing of the chilly winds and clearing of the showers as a high pressure system takes over southeastern Australia, providing a an opportunity for Tasmanians, Victorians and South Australians to get their washing done.
However, this weather pattern shift is likely to then cause showery winds to transfer to the east coast, mainly Queensland, and encourage some rain-bearing systems to reach Western Australia.
