Jane walks you through how the next line up of weather systems should impact southern Australia, as they go on their roller coaster ride determining which areas see the bigger impacts.

An East Coast Low rapidly developed and is now located just off Sydney. It brings damaging to destructive winds, heavy rain and flooding, strong to gale force to storm force winds, as well as coastal erosion and dangerous surf. The wild weather is likely to ease as the low moves away, beginning later on Wednesday.

The NSW East Coast Low develops later on Monday, with huge rainfalls and coastal effects likely. The biggest totals are projected to be from southern Sydney to Batemans Bay with flooding likely. Some of the rain even spreads into southeast Victoria and northeast Tasmania. Coastal effects (near and just south of the low) are likely to include damaging winds, hazardous surf and erosion.

This week's East Coast Low will bring some precipitation to the alps - coming in from a southeasterly direction. It is the meeting of tropical moisture and a cold pool, but will the cold pool hold firm for long enough? After that we have a weak system next Sunday/Monday, and the potential for our next big system in the middle of next week.
