Quiet weather pattern brings mostly dry conditions and lets heat spread far and wide
Over the past week we've seen significant rain over the northeastern half of the country, associated with a persistant trough, and low moving off the NSW coast. This weather pattern has now moved on. Late last week and over the weekend, rain began falling in the southwest, adding up to widespread 25 to 50 mm with locally heavier falls.
The current weather pattern shows a very broad area of high pressure. Firstly, cradling troughs in the west, continuing the rain for another day or two.Secondly, blocking any tropical moisture from reaching cold fronts that are crossing the southeast.
