Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms over Far North Queensland north of about Port Douglas to Croydon. Showers tending widespread at times north of Cooktown to Pormpuraaw with a risk of heavy falls. Isolated showers about remaining eastern and central districts, with the chance of thunderstorms between Mackay and the Carnarvon Ranges. Sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, tending south to southeasterly in the far west of the state. Light west to northwesterly about the northern Peninsula. Maximum temperatures below average about Cape York Peninsula and the north west, and near or a little above average elsewhere.
