Tropical Cyclone Mitchell is offshore of the Pilbara coast in Western Australia, and is bringing a thick spiralling pattern of cloud and storms around the system's eye. Extensive thunderstorms can been seen over much of the north and central parts of the country. Moist onshore flow being driven by a high pressure ridge over the Eastern seaboard is producing low to mid level cloud and showers over much of the Queensland coast. Extensive rain areas associated with patchy mid to upper level cloud extends from interior New South Wales through to central coastal districts. A surface trough located through northern and central districts of Victoria is generating isolated thunderstorms with mid to upper level cloud.
