A strong gulf line crosses the Gulf of Carpentaria, bringing thick cloud with embedded storm activity to much of the Cape York Peninsula. Further west, patchy sheets of mid level cloud and some isolated storms can be seen over the Top End. A trough and embedded low in the Pilbara region brings patchy storm clouds to central parts of Western Australia. Plenty of patchy mid level cloud lies over inland parts of the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales. This is associated with a disturbance in the upper atmosphere. A thick upper cloud band to drifts over the southeastern corner of the state, the remnants of a recent cold front which now weakens over the Tasman Sea. Similarly, some streaks of upper level cloud can be seen over Tasmania. Patches of low cloud and fog are also visible near the border between Victoria and South Australia. Wispy high level cloud drifts over southern parts of Western Australia and South Australia. The remainder of the country is mostly cloud free.
